Staveley MWFC host #SFD17

We are delighted to confirm that SFD17 will take place at Inkersall Road, the home of Staveley Miners Welfare FC, the Trojans. Staveley play their football in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division and started life in 1962 under the name of the Nags Head.

Inkersall Road becomes the ninth different stadium to host the SFD after Woodbourne Road, Sheffield United Academy, Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield FC, Hallam FC, Penistone Church FC, Bramall Lane and the New York Stadium most recently.

This is the second time that the annual charity match has been staged outside of Sheffield at a “neutral ground”, the first time when we went to Rotherham in 2019 (and it was also planned for 2020) and now we head to Chesterfield in 2022.

The impressive facilities at Staveley promise for a great atmosphere and match when the SFD visits in 2022 on a brand new state of the art 3G pitch. The ground has a capacity of five thousand with covered stands and seating for 220 people and is just a stone throw away from Sheffield City Centre, 12.6 miles to be precise (from Ponds Forge). The clubs colours also lend themselves nicely to the match being staged as a Sheffield Wednesday Fans home tie with plans already underway for the 2023 Sheffield United Fans home tie.

We would like to thank Terry (Chairman) for allowing us the opportunity to stage the event at Inkersall Road, we look forward to a brilliant event.

Iain Atkins “A massive thank you to Terry and the team at Staveley for hosting us in 2022, this is a fantastic ground, with brilliant facilities and an ethos for being there for the community, a proper local community club. Across the events history we have been fortunate enough to be hosted at lots of different grounds that all bring something a bit different, unique to the event. This is no different and I can’t wait until we get to play in that ground.”
