Bramall Lane to host #SFD14
The Sheffield Fans Derby is set to celebrate its ten year anniversary in style this coming May as the event returns to the World’s Oldest Professional Football Ground, Bramall Lane, the home to Sheffield United Football Club.
The event has previouslly been held at Bramall Lane for SFD 7 (26th May 2011) when the charity supported Amy’s Retreat raising £2,924.78. This was the first major ground that the event had been staged at.

Although a date hasn’t yet been confirmed the event will go ahead in May 2017 in aid of Sheffield Hospitals Charity Stroke Appeal.

The fantastic success of the Blades this season in their bid to gain promotion out of League One is going well as they sit at the top of League One with 72 points, nine points clear of 3rd placed Bolton who have a game in hand on the Blades.

Operations Director Dave McCarthy stated: “‘I am pleased that we can make Bramall Lane available for this seasons ‘Fans Derby’ match. I know first-hand just how hard the organisers work to put on this game and I am always amazed at how much money this organisation raises for local charities. I will personally ensure that all the facilities are made available to the lads that play and hope they enjoy the 10th Anniversary game and the occasion and that their friends, families and supporters of both clubs come along to support what is a great cause.’’

SFD organiser Iain Atkins “We are very grateful to Dave and Sheffield United Football Club for allowing us to once again use this amazing stadium to stage SFD 14 for our ten year anniversary event. Every year the SFD raises money for local causes through something that we love, football. This year the fans of both Sheffield sides will play this fixture at Bramall Lane and it will be so special for all the participants no matter if you’re from the Red or Blue side of the city. Players will experience the full match day experience from the perspective of a player and cheered on throughout the game by a crowd of friends, family and football fans.”
